Why in the hell the I.O.C Pick greece hold these games. greeks cant support the games And i disagree they gave the games to china.I think the 2012 games should be in rome italy.Italians would pack the arenas up and support these games.
Having the games back in Greece is a wonderful occasion. The Greeks did create the Olympics, Hello!!! Although opinions or welcome, you still need to work on your tone.
And by the way the Italins do have the Olympics, in 2006.
China has the Olympics in 2008
And New York City has a bid to get the Olympics in 2012

Besides, the only country that could fill the Olympic venues and has historically not gone into the red on holding them is the United States.

And so far, even though Athens cut is razor-thin-close on having all the venues ready in time, they've still brought forth a better Olympics than Atlanta did. Man, that was such an embarrassment.

Yeah, but all of those empty seats on TV are embarassing. Women's Gymnastics looks like warmups before the match as the seats are only about 40% filled, if that.

If you think olympic games attendance is bad during warm ups just look how bad the minnesota twins fans show up during batting pratice.

Why would you say Atlanta was such an embarassment?

Both the men's and women's gymnastics have been GREAT! And it's such a disappointment to see the stands soooooo empty. This is the Olympics afterall.

One person dead from a presumably home-grown terrorist bombing.
I remember an anouncer for those games saying, on TV, that after 1 week there he had enough of the tackiness and was ready to go home.

The athletics themselves were good, but outside the venues the "production" by the Atlanta Olympic Committee was abyssmal. The tackiness was evident in the opening ceremony and extended out onto the street and in the shops and items for sale... it was horrible. You'd hardly find a handful of visitors who would compliment Atlanta, most would have numerous complaints that are well-deserved.
Being here right in the middle of it, living in a locked-down building (two consul generals from other countries also lived in the building), I saw how it went and was sorely disappointed. Atlanta got a huge black eye from it and is still recovering from it.
Yeah, but all of those empty seats on TV are embarassing. Women's Gymnastics looks like warmups before the match as the seats are only about 40% filled, if that.I noticed this the last two nights. The lower deck looked about 60% full at times. The upper deck looked empty except for a few people.
Here (http://www.sportsbusinessnews.com/index.asp?story_id=38461) is a short article about the low turnout at some of the events.

CHROME pickup trucks! In the opening ceremony and then into everything remotely connected, the horrific stereotypes of "the south" were simply tacky. I know that word "tacky" is overused but in this case it is difficult to come up with something more appropriate.
Ah, ok, I understand. I watched the '96 Olympics on CBC because of the god-awful American coverage. I thought the games in Atlanta were magnificent - it's not their fault that the coverage was so bad.
I can't imagine how NYC put a bid in for the 2012 Olympics. If they were to actually get the summer games, I feel sorry for the residents as it would be a traffic nightmare!
Traffic is bad now!!

You were spared much of the dismal disappointment, then. The Atlanta committee turned the entire city into a huge "flea market" full of crappy merchandise hawked by aggressive street vendors. It really was an embarrassment.
