Hi, i have a dish 500 with dual legacy lnbs and a direct tv dish with single lnb set for 61.5. i just purchased a sw64 switch over the net to combine all the satellites to my 3 receivers. my question is that if i buy a dual lnb for directtv dish will it work with the sw64 or will i have to buy a legacy dual for that. if i have to buy a new lnb can anyone tell me of an lnb which will fit into my directv lnb slot so that i dont have to replace the entire dish.

Welcome aboard!

AFAIK, the D* dish/LNB is "standard" and as long as it has dual outputs, should plug into the SW64 just fine.

thank you and thank you for the reply. im net with dish and dont really know much difference between lnbs. i know that i have legacy dual lnbs on the dish 500 and the lnb on the directv dish looks a little different from the legacy lnbs. r u sure if i buy a directv dual lnb it will work with the switch?

No, I'm NOT sure. But if you don't already have the LNB in hand, then why not just buy a used E* Dish 300 & Legacy Dual LNB? They're all over eBay.

ANY D* lnb will work just fine with the dish setup EXCEPT for the Sat C LNB. The difference is that most D* LNBs are rectangular and ALL E* LNBs are D shaped. Other than not quite fitting exactly into a Dshaped dish, it will work fine. I have a E* LNB on the 119 and a D* LNB on the 110 on 30" dishes into an SW64. I also had a P* dish into the SW64 hitting the 105 at 1 point.

i couldnt really understand ur reply. if i have 2 dual legacy lnbs on dish 500 and i have a directtv dish with single direct tv lnb, do u think i show replace the single directtv lnb to a dual lnb or shoud i replace the entire dish to a lagacy dual to get signals from all 3 satellites?

A Single LNB won't work properly with a SW64 - you'll get to choose even or odd transponders, but not both - that requires a Dual.

Also, some D* LNBs are "SAT C" which means they are weird and will only work for the specific D* bird they are designed for.

In conclusion, if what you have is a Single, just go buy a Dish 300 with a Legacy Dual LNBF. :)

thank you, im already bidding for a dish 300 online now. i tried to replace the existing lnb with a dual legacy lnb but wasnt sucessful. i think they have different slots for legacy lnbs and directv lnbs so im gonna buy a dish 300 now. thanks for all ur help.

If by slots, you mean the shape of the mounting arm - yeah - square vs. "D".

BTW, you're welcome!
