I just bought a sony 4:3 HDTV monitor (SONY KV32HS420). I only use over the air programming. Should i really spend the money on a OTA HDTV receiver. I was thinking of the LG DVD/HDTV combo. It would be around 330. Would it really increase the quality if I only use an antenna to get local channels?

I have tried the Samsung SIR-T165 terrestrial HDTV receiver. I ended up settling with a Dishnetwork 811 which is a Satellite and Terrestrial HDTV receiver.
Have you ever seen a HDTV show? I think if you had experienced HD on your set...with your favorite show...like CSI or Las Vegas, or just a ball game...You would already have the answer to you question. That is...provided your locals in your DMA broadcast in HDTV?
Here's may opinionated advice...Go to Bestbuy...buy the LG unit, connect using a YPrPb or DVI cable...Try it for 15 or 30 days or what ever thee money back guarantee is...and if your not excited as hell in that time frame return the unit and get your $ back. But as long as your locals are transmitting DTV with HDTV simulcasts...I don't think you will be returning it. Hell HDTV impresses my wife....nuff said.
Go for it!
Good luck,
Jason

Well, i don't think I would buy it at best buy. I work for a competitor, so i do get a discount. Even though it really sucks anymore. I just don't want to return it if i don't like it so I create an item that cant be resold. Most of the time i bitch about my job, but i'm a company man at heart.

All the more reason to go to your competitor...BestBuy...and do this. BTW Bestbuy resells the returned items as long as they are not damaged...They will discount it and put it on the shelf with the others.
From time to time I have seen carts or tables setup in BB that has clearance items...from displays or returns. You can't feel guilty about doing this with your competetor?
