I sure was pissed when I saw I setup my new Directv tivo today and then saw there was no HMO option. That was one of my reasons I wanted a new Tivo, because my series one didnt have the option without hacking it. Guess I should have read around more on the tivo from Directv before I bought it. Why do they have the usb ports if you cant use them.Does Directv plan on offering the hmo in the future.
And can some one tell me what the window button is for, cant find a use for it yet.

I can tell someone didn't do much research, otherwise you have known that no stock DirecTivo is able to do HMO. DirecTV has no official plan's to offer this service, but I do hear talks on the subject all the time-its anyone's guess as to when or if this option will be added.

The home media is only available on standalone TiVos at this time. Will the DirecTiVos ever get HMO, no one really knows. Dan at DBSForums has heard rumors that DirecTiVos will get the 4.0 software some time in the coming months, but as to whether or not that will include features like the home media option and folders, that is yet to be seen but the general consensus around the net is that it is doubtful. The USB ports do nothing as of right now, they’re intended for future use, whatever that may be. The window button has no functionality at this time.

No I didnt do my research on the direct tivo. I have had my other tico for about 5 years, so I really didnt go looking to hard on more info. I just knew the series 2 had the hmo option so I just assumed the directv tivo would to. Thats what I get for assuming..lol

Still, you can't beat recording two programs at once plus watch a third.

Yeah I know. I love that. Beats Tivo 1 hands down. But I sure was looking forward to being able to start transfering some shows and movies to my computer with the USB ports. I know I can hack it, but just dont want to. Knowing my luck Id screw it up somehow.

It is especially disheartening when new announcements like the one today about Tivo partnering with Netflix to allow broadband-connected Tivos to download movies temporarily to watch then delete. That would be an awesome feature.
