Channel / Show alert

One of my favorite features of cable that I cannot figure out how to do is set the directv dvr to either show a banner/alert or automatically change the viewing channel of a show on a request from me by setting an auto tune in the guide. I know on the standard non-dvr receivers there is an auto tune, is there a way with the DVR?

Not directly in the same way. You have to set an actually recording, you can do a manual recording for say 1 min if you have no plans to record the full show and the net result is the same channel tuned to the new channel that you program. Now if you hve two tuners hooked up more then likely it will change the background tuner and you won't even know it's recording until the red light comes on.
