From Dish:

L188 fixes an OTA bug that caused the 921 to lock up, caused a smartcard read problem (sysinfo screen reporting that smartcard wasn't inserted or an error with the smartcard), and caused lockups in the Scan DTV and Add DTV processes.

From Mark:

Obviously, this isn't the release that we were hoping for. But, from what I understand, this one fix was deemed important enough to send it now, rather than waiting another couple of weeks to work the kinks out of the next release. Because this is the only fix in L188, there no need to repost all of the other L187 bug reports. So, until L189 gets here, please only post NEW L188 bugs in the bug reporting forum.

Mark, they may have fixed another bug too. Before L188, pressing stop while watching a recorded event would also stop a recording in progress. I was recording the U.S. Open tennis all day, while catching up on a lot of recorded shows during the rain delays this morning. I tried to reproduce this by pressing stop after each show, and it did not stop my recording in progress.

So either I was really lucky today, or they fixed this problem in L188.

I found that this was fixed for me in L187. Maybe it is more complicated than it appears to be.

Good fix? OK, go to ADD DTV and change the channels a few times and see what happens. I found that, maybe the first two tries, the channels will lock but beyond that they don't lock, and they don't route to the assigned channel number after repeated changes. Your correct, it didn't freeze. Yes, this was a good fix wasn't it? So what now, is this an new bug that needs reported?

I think that the channels actually do lock, but the display doesn't indicate it. They are aware of this one.

As far as the STOP not stopping recordings, it actually is more complicated than that. I've done a lot of testing with that one, and of the 33 states that I've come up with, 5 of them still fail. I'll be posting about this over the weekend when I have time to put together the complete list.

I lost a recording yesterday when I pressed stop. As far as I can tell, when you do a hard reboot, this bug goes away, but it returns after a day or two. L188 hasn't changed the problem.

Mark, do you know if there were any overscan adjustments implemented? I didnt see this yesterday, but just now when I fired-up the 921 for the first time today it was frozen. After a reboot my overscan for the first time is significantly improved! %-wise I don't know yet, but I can see all the text in the program guide (plus a black border on the sides) where before it was always tight around the edges of the screen. Just curious as I haven't seen this kind of 'complete' picture since my 6000.

I don't know of any overscan adjustments or stretch adjustments that were made. I didn't notice anything different in my testing, and they didn't tell me about it if something was changed. There may have been tweaks done, as evidenced by people with fixed pixel displays now seeing a slight understretch.

Hmm..thnx Mark. That's odd as this change is very significant in my display..not that I'm complaining :) I hadn't changed any settings on my 921 or the TV when this occured--just the reboot.

UPDATE:
OK...sling mud in my face please. The receiver reset itself to 480p output only and I didnt catch it. :nono2: Switching back to 1080i restored my previous overscanned image. D'oh!

I'll be quiet now.
