The standard def. Tivo went black & white on all channels today @ 4:55. Turned it to standby came back three hours later and still back & white, kept changing the channels and it finally returned to color....
This is a known problem. Do a search on tivocommunity.com

Also, try reseating the s-video cable if you are using it.

I've had this happen once or twice. Doing a reset of the TiVo resolved the issue. Dunno why it occurs except that it affects both composite and S-Video outputs.

I have experienced the problem for a few months........Reboot fixed it....

I'm not sure there is a permanent fix.....At least I haven't been able to find one.

I've noticed this from time to time on my TIVO. I thought it may have been my TV until I now see that this happens to others. Is it only with certain models? I have 2 Samsung 4040R units. The one in my family room has never had this problem, but the one in my den happens every now and then. Sometimes just changing the channel works. Other times, I have to put it in standby mode and turn it back on.

I have a Samsung 4040 and a Hughs unit...It has happened on the Samsung unit, but I have never seen the problem on the Hughs........hmmmm.
