The Golf Channel said Wednesday it got a boost in subscriber numbers when it added 4.7 million incremental subscribers through a restructured agreement with DirecTV.

The network said it will be included in DirecTV's Total Choice Plus package, the satellite TV company's second-most penetrated tier with more than 6.5 million customers. Golf Channel's cable and satellite TV subscriber count was at 62 million, but the new deal with DirecTV will put the network into more than 67 million homes.

Due to steady growth from its satellite and cable partners, Golf Channel executives said they predict to be at or near the 70 million milestone by the end of the year.

That's great news, Chris. I wonder when that will become effective? Getting TC Plus for a few bucks is better for me than getting the full Sports Package. It's probably too soon for this to be shown on DirecTV's website.

It may be available in more than 67 million homes, but not watched in them. I would much rather watch RFD-TV

I have been warned to not take up golf. It's too addictive.

I'll be checking the Golf Channel schedule and my turn on TC Plus again.

Does this mean that the sports pack price might go down to only $5.99 like Dish Network's already is?

They should also include Fox Sports World or offer as an a la carte for $1.99 like Outdoor Channel.

According to the October issue of the D* guide, it says that Golf is in BOTH TC+ AND the SP. So, this is good for existing SP subs, who DON'T want to pay the extra $3 just to now get Golf. (FUEL is the same way...)
