Free Starz weekend

DirecTV and Starz Encore Group are offering a free Starz preview weekend to all DirecTV customers beginning today through Sunday. Actor Billy Boyd, who starred as Pippin in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, will host the event. The free preview consists of 12 channels of the Starz Super Pak, the companies said.

I was hoping to record some movies, but so far, I have not seen much worth recording or watching other than Night Gallery. I wish I could subscribe to just the Encore Mystery channel without taking the entire Starz package.

I have already seen the few movies that do interest me on PPV. I would record some of them anyway to my new DVD Recorder, but the promo bar they pop up during the credits is a turn-off. Do they do that all the time or just during the freeview?
