Hi, is there a good RF remote for the TIVO so I can change the ch in another room? It MUST be RF.

There are any number of devices trhat can be used for this. They are called IR extenders. They consist of two parts, one to receive the signal from the remote and the other that transmits that remote's IR to the device being controlled. Check out Radio
Shack for their IR extender. There is also a device that substitutes one of the batteries in the remote and converts it to RF. Do a search on Google for "Blue Do".

Why not just use UHF remotes that can go through walls? Well I'm on Dish now and that's what they use. They work well too. Doesn't any DTV equipment use UHF remotes?

Cheers,

Unfortunately, there are no current DirecTV DVRs that use UHF remotes. There are a few regular receivers. BTW, the RF we are referring to is UHF. It's just that you need a receiver on the other end to convert to IR for the equipment being controlled.

One can always do what I do. I took the RF remote I used with my Hughes 4th gen. IRD and jury-rigged it to fit right onto my Sony T60's remote, and voila! An RF remote have I. :)
