East and West Coast Feeds

Hey,

I had a general question about the different feeds that we get for stations. Now I live on the East coast so I know I am getting MTV East, USA Network East, etc. However, is there a West feed for those who life on the Pacific Coast? Do they get this off of Dish Network or do they get the East feed?

Why doesn't Dish Network make both feeds available (i.e. Nickelodeon East and West)?

With only a few exceptions, all of the feeds carried by both DirecTV and Dish Network are east coast feeds. There isn't enough space on the satellites to carry both feeds and a wide selection of channels. In addition, a good portion of the population lives in the East or Central time zones.

When Dish Network and DirecTV first stated, there weren't as many channels that offerred a west coast feed.
