I have a Hughs and a Samsung. I like both, but I'll admit I have seen the "black and white problem" on my Samsung......I think I have also seen more users with Samsung problems....but I like both my DTivos.

which Hughes and Samsung models do you have? what do you think about the RCA DVR40 model?

I have two of the RCA DVR40's and they have been great, updated one to a 120 gig hard drive. You can buy the RCA DVR80 at Best Buy now for $99.00 it might be worth the extra money if you do not plan to upgrade it yourself.

go for something bigger then 40GB. It is way too small. 80GB will be a challenge to clear on most people's busy schedules and love for TV. All DirecTivo units are basiclly the same, so it doesn't really matter what one you get. They all have just about the same insides, it is the outsides that look different.

which units have the most quietiest fan though? I have a Pioneer DVR-810H unit with Tivo, so no need for a bigger drive yet, the fan in that unit is quiet enough for me, hopefully, I'll get a DVR with the same sort of fan.
