View Full Version : Signal problems with our Philips TIVO
We have been experience problems since Sat with our Philips Tivo. Green Bay local stations video and audio are garbled. It looks a lot like a pending storm with picture and sound breaking up when the sky is clear with no clouds. This morning and afternoon picture was perfect. Tonight the interference has started. I am working with Directv who want me to move our Tivo to another room to see if problem continues. Only problem all of our other three receivers are wall mounted with short cords.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

If you look at the last page or two, you will see that a lot of people (about 1/3) receiving the "d" upgrade are having trouble with their DVR because of it, so much trouble that Directv is sending them new units. Sometimes the new units get the "d" upgrade and crap out as well. I unplugged my phone line to avoid getting the update until they resolve the problem.

How can I find what software Tivo is using on my TIVO?
Bobmcl, push the DIRECTV button at the top, go to Messages & Setup and under System Information you'll find the version of the software you have. The first four numbers are the ones that count. It should read 3.1.1c or 3.1.1d. The d version is the one that has been causing some problems. Including on my RCA.
My Tivo problem has been solved. Directv sent an authorized service tech who said your Tivo is not working properly. Someone finally after calling Directv on a daily basis morning noon at late into the night. Now I needed to call Directv Protection Plan to order a new TIVO after additional calls after their phones disconnect my call. In Three days this feasco should be over. Talk about customer service - its doesn't exist. Wake up Directv before cable takes back their former subscribers.

The refurb they give you could have the same problems once it downloads the upgrade. I hope not.

What about phone line? every time I do a test it tells me not able to make connection
Tivo only...When I call Tech line they tell me Tivo will call us in a couple of days????
I am not very happy with the situation....I am thinking DVR from E* are better...@ least if anything go wrong The problem can be solved their and then....not days later and by a third party.....
Should you switch let me know - I'm thinking after 10 year I don't need this problem. It took Directv 6 Days before a Tech came out. What service!!
I received an email this morning from TIVO regarding '3.1.1E software' new software should correct my problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I will let you know how the new software is working.
I spoke to Directv this morning asking why a replacement DTIVO has not arrived. I was told Fedex has not picked it up. When I asked why don't you call them, they answered we can't do that! CAN'T DO THAT! I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THE BEST WAY TO RESOLVE THIS IS TO ORDER A NEW TIVO THEN WORK OUT SOME ARANGEMENT WHEN THE NEW TIVO ARRIVES - ANYONE HAVE BETTER IDEA? DIRECTV NEEDS MANAGEMENT HELP!!!
Does anyone know the phone number for Directv Corporate office. I just tried calling to down load [e] software for my TIVO it did not work.
Software was downloaded on our DTIVO everything is working OK.
A Follow up to previous threads. FEDX delivered replacement DTIVO from Oct 14 to Nov 3rd. We told the driver to return it. I would love to receive a card asking how we are doing. Oh well
