i dunno what type of Dish i have and i want to know how i can find out, and i can only get a locked signal on 110 and 119,
also a couple years ago i tried to get a 2nd dish but they said there was a tree in the way of it had it point, anyway is there anyway around this? or do we have to cut the tree down? it says i have an installed 500 twin switch in the check signal area but i dunno what that means.

Well, it sounds like you have a dish 500 with a twin lnbf. to help further, as far as what type of twin lnbf you have, what type of receivers do you have, does the lnbf on the dish have DP in dark letters on it? As far as your tree issue with the 61.5 (second dish), you can find out for yourself if it can be done, and here is how................go outside where you can see your existing dish, face the way it looks like it is pointing, rasie your arm and point it straight out in front of you, now raise it 40 degrees, and turn your entire body to the east 90 degrees (25% of a circle to the left) is there a tree or any obstruction in the way of which your extended fingertips point? If not, then your second dish can go roughly where you stand. If there is move around the yard to different places and repeat above. It's a little less scientifical, but it will get you pretty damn close most of the time, provided leaves don't grow out there in the spring.

DNSC - a 500 twin is a legacy twin. Not a DP. Also, he did not saw what his DMA is or which wing he needed, 148 or 61.5....
Groomsy - you have a 500 Twin, which sees both the 110 & 119 sats and is able to pass signal to up to 2 receivers or 1 dual tuner receiver. As for the Line of Sight(LOS), if the tree is still there, then it would probably have to come down. Unless they move your locals due to the SHVIA redo, you would have to take the tree down......

ok should have specified a bit more, but I did say Dish 500 (referring to the actual dish) then the words "with a twin lnbf". Didn't realized the way I worded it was confusing. Sorry bout that. And yes, you are correct, he did not say which DMA, so to correct that post if he needs 61.5 follow my original post, for 148, it is almost the same thing. (at least from my location it is)
