View Full Version : Signal loss on Superdish-119 satellite

I have an installation that the customer loses transponder 2 on the 119 satellite using a superdish. If you go to the back of the receiver and wiggle the connection at the if input the signal will come back. I have changed connections on two occasions only to find that it will work for a while and the customer will have to wiggle it again to get it to work. Have any of you guys seen this using a DP 301 receiver? We never experienced a problem using the legacy lnb.

One difference would be that the legacy isn't stacked. On the old LNB the receiver would see all the odd transponders between 950 and 1450 *or* all the even transponders between 950 and 1450. The DishPro LNB places odd transponders between 950 and 1450 AND the even transponders between 1650 and 2150 - at the same time.

How good is the cable involved. Is it RG6 swept tested to 2150MHz or some older cable? It makes a difference.

Come to think of it, the existing cable is about 2 1/2 years old from the receiver to the switch. However, it is supposed to be swept tested up to at least 2150 mhz. Maybe I'll check this out with a new cable since it is only about 30 feet to run.Because it is a Superdish, all the other cables are new. In fact all the even transponders below 6 run at lower signal strengths. The average for 2,4,6 are about 90 while odd transponders run about 117 to 120.

In fact all the even transponders below 6 run at lower signal strengths. The average for 2,4,6 are about 90 while odd transponders run about 117 to 120.Odd transponders below 6 on 119 are spotbeams.

Here are my numbers for 119 (as of this post - 0 level spotbeams skipped):
TP02 - 106
TP04 - 102
TP05 - 122 (Spot)
TP06 - 104
TP07 - 118 (Spot)
TP08 - 108
TP10 - 107
TP11 - 117
TP12 - 107
TP13 - 115
TP14 - 106
TP15 - 114
TP16 - 113
TP17 - 113
TP18 - 110
TP19 - 117
TP20 - 110
TP21 - 118

Are you having the same problems with signals from 110?

I did not check 110 as I did not see any reception issues there. However, I will check in the next day or two and get back to you.
