I've got a RCA D6530 with 4 ports, ant in, and power in. Just starting the installation, but wanted to test a few things first, like the Antenna. I've got a big honkin antenna on my 2 story house, picks up everything 5by. When I hooked it into the multi-switch, my signal went to crap, and barely gets color.

have a diplexer on the other end as well. Is this normal for the signal to go down that bad? will going ahead and connecting the 2 LNB's cause some impedance thing to happen causing my antenna reception to majically appear?

Do i need to dump this box and get one that doesn't require power? Just seems crazy that the signal wen to hell, just going thru the multiswitch and diplexer.

Thanks ahead!!!

What type of diplexor are you using? If you are using a power blocked 1, then your in line amp will drop out. I always recommend using an A/B switch with a powered antenna, because I have seen it fry the receivers in some cases.

as soon as I had power from one of my DSS boxes,,, Viola!!! So lesson learned, not only do you need the normal power port, but there has to be power from some of the DBS boxes as well. Got the Antenna, Tivo ports, and two old boxes running great!!! Diplexers worked great too, with no noticable signal loss on the DSS or Antenna.

Now I'm ready for that HDTV upgrade...
