View Full Version : Altitude & CSN-Chicago both up and running
Altitude is up on Ch. 644, and surprisingly, Comcast SportsNet Chicago is up on Ch. 640.
I didn't realize that D* had finished the CSN-Chicago deal. No sign of CSN-Sacramento (or will it be called CSN-West?) though.

Now I wish CSN Philadelphia would be added
Sorry - I fixed it...
Getting blind in my old age...
Comcast Philadelphia won't ever come to Satellite. I don't know why Philly thinks they are so special. But I am glad that Comcast Sportsnet Chicago is up and running. It's the only way for me to see my Cubs during the season other than the few WGN games they have now.
What about Comcast Sports Southeast..... You would think they would cut a deal for all of them.....

Comcast Philadelphia won't come to satellite because they don't have to. The fact that they deliver service only through cable allows them to restrict access.

Because Comcast has a legal loophole that allows it be exclusive on Phila sports programming. I was hoping Rupert & company could persuade the Comcast folks to change their minds, especially since CSN carries Fox Programming. Seems Directv should have a little leverage here. Also, since the legal hole has to do with distribution via landline, not satellite, how is it that they are able to get the bandwidth for Comcast Sportsnet Phila HD through a landline? Lots of compression????
Distribution is via terrestrial means. Could be microwave or fiber.

Comcast Philadelphia won't ever come to Satellite. I don't know why Philly thinks they are so special.Since Comcast owns most, if not all, of the local sports teams, they have a vested interest in keeping as much of the income for themselves as they can. So they wouldn't want their customers moving to satellite.

Comcast owns the sports teams and the cable system in Philadelphia. And, Comcast does everything that is good for Comcast and to heck with everyone else. Since DBS is a competitor, Comcast has done everything to lock DBS out including delivering the R$N by terrestial means. As a result, Philadelphia has the lowest DBS penetration among the major cities.

is this channel CSN-chicago on directv 640 the HD channel ?
so i can watch the bulls games in HDTV ?
What about Comcast Sports Southeast..... You would think they would cut a deal for all of them.....Because (1) this channel is owned by Comcast and (2) there is no pro sports carried on this channel, I doubt that we will be seeing it on either DBS service anytime soon.

Also, co-owned by Charter Cable.
