View Full Version : 4X8 and/or 6x8 question
How do you inject a tv antenna signal (off the air) into such a switch? I see no provision for it. The tech is coming out tomorrow to complete installation with for local channel pick up (one round dish on 72.5 and one round on the 101). He is bringing both switches (I hope)as I told him my needs. Obviously the 4x8 has no jack for it, I didn't know if one of the extra jacks on a 6x8 could be used for such?
Even with local now avail thru D* still no ABC avail thus a need to still leave up an arial.
PS-I have 3 receivers, two are tivo's-reason for the *x8 switch.

You can diplex your OTA into the lines, but you would have to do it on all 3 receivers more than likely.

I don't understand why you would have to diplex all three receivers. I have diplexed only one of the receivers many times.
Larrystotler:
Yea thats kinda what I've figured out so far. Looks like I'm gonna have to split it (the arial feed) by 3 ways and inject it into each line after the switch with diplexers. Those 4x8's and 6x8's don't seem to have terresterial port. I am upgrading from a 3x8 switch, which it had an "ant" port on it and would like to do it in the same fashion but looks like not.

How do you do it the way you described? The only way I can see is to split it off (with a regular ol' splitter) behind your tv after its been separated from the sat signal (after diplexer). Is that what you mean? Is there anyway to do it at the switch site other than how larrystotler mentioned?

You can use a quad diplexer right after the switch. Up to 4 sat lines in from the switch plus one input for your antenna. Then a single diplexer at each tv.

Do you happen to have a link to a picture of this? I've never heard of or seen one of these. TIA.

Sure here's a link to channel master. It's a big pdf so it may take awhile. You will find it on page 8. I know Eagle Aspen also makes these.
