The first official production release of Firefox is now available. If you haven't given it a try, I recommend that you do. It a much safer browser than Internet Explorer now-a-days.

So far, I like it.
So far, I like it.Try out the extensions as well. I would highly recommend the AdBlock, IEView, and ImageZoom. IEView is handy for those webpages that insist in forcing people to use IE for functionality.

Where do you get the extensions at?
Jacob, on the home page, look over to the right under "Resources and Links"

I just downloaded it and the mouse gestures and zoomy extensions I had with my previous FireFox installation does not work with version 1.0 but may work in future versions. Thats a big drawback for me.

Once it is installed click Tools and then extensions. You will see currently installed extensions and a link to a site with most (but not all) avaialble extensions. You may want to either update your extensions or follow the directions as to "fooling " firefox on version number. If you ned help jacb PM me.

I had some issues getting FireFox to work or even uninstall completely so now I am having to delete everything that shows up in a search with FireFox in it. This is a pain. I never had such issues with Maxthon.

Love the newest version of Firefox. Firefox + adblock extension > All :)

Thats a big drawback for me.Wait a week or so. Firefox has been picky in the past versions. Each version has it's own version string to tell extensions what version it is. Extensions just haven't been updated yet. Just be patient since 1.0 just came out.

Firefox is great. Now how do I turn off IE? I still get popup ads through IE. Also how do I get Norton Password Manager to work with Firefox?

I decided to give Mozilla another try. I installed it about a year ago and use it on my Linux partition at school. While I do like Firefox better then the full blown Mozilla (seems quicker to load up), I still like IE the best. Firefox is going off right after I post the message.
Firefox interim security update 1.0.1 is available for dl. (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050225 Firefox/1.0.1)
Goto [Tools], [Options], [Advanced], then scroll down to "Software Update".
Firefox interim security update 1.0.2 is now available for download.
According to Mozilla news release:
"Proactive security update fixes bug prior to any known exploits
March 23, 2005, (Mountain View, CA). The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving choice and promoting innovation on the Internet, today announced a security update for its Firefox Web browser. The update is a proactive security release to patch a bug identified by Internet Security Systems, a premier security research, products, and services company. No known exploits of the bug have been reported prior to the update's release."
.
To get the update, go to [Tools], [Options], [Advanced], then scroll down to "Software Update".
To get the full (4.8MB) Firefox browser, go to www.mozilla.org
I'd also hightly recommend getting one of the unofficial MOOX optimized builds (http://www.moox.ws/tech/mozilla/firefox.htm) once they are posted. They are compiled with processor specific optimizations as well as some further tuning. I've started using them several releases ago and have yet to encounter a specific problem unique to them.
