My 721 receiver will miss a timed recording occasionally. I figured out exactly when it will happen. If I have two timers set to fire at the same time and I am currently watching live television, but have the live television delayed (not keeping up with current time) I will miss one show. When I'm watching "live" television but are delayed for any amount of time and go to switch channels, I would see a warning popup indicating the channel could only be changed in live mode or something to that effect. Say you're watching "live" television at 7:59 PM but you have it delayed a bit. When 8:00 arrives and you have two timers set to record two programs at 8:00 the unit needs to use both tuners and the same "popup indicating the channel can only be changed in live mode" appears you are screwed. It won't let you hit "okay" and do its job. Only one timer will fire. You can then go in your PVR list to see which of the two shows you're supposed to be recording is actually recording. Then try tuning to the other channel that is supposed to be recording, I can tune it in but if I try to manually record it, it won't let me because it thinks it is already recording two programs. Your now stuck watching the program that is not really being recorded or you're not going to see it later. I think if I did a reboot during commercial time it would come back recording both the shows I wanted. None of this will happen if I'm watching a recorded show, (not needing or using either of the two tuners). The 721 used to change channels automatically no matter what if it needed both tuners.
I think a lot of other people might have this problem with timers not firing and not realize that it only happens when watching "delayed live TV."
I don't think it is a problem with my box I think it is a bug.
It's gotten to the point where I'm now starting to remember to lock the doors, turn out the lights, etc., and make sure the god damn 721 is not delayed when leaving the house.
I've also had the problem of not being able to back Skip as much as the rewind button will go, (to the beginning of the program or when I changed the channel).
So, tell me, are you having this problem with your 721?

PS I just moved from the Bay Area to the Fresno area and watching my "new" local Fox channel last night was pretty sad. The picture quality was horrible! I'd say less than VHS quality at the lowest speed on a crappy VCR.
