View Full Version : SuperDISH 105 Installation Issue

I typically install just D500 systems. Just recently we've had some inquiries to do SuperDISH installs in a new local market supported by the 105 satellite. My first upgrade went pretty smoothly as I had well over 100 on 110/119 and right about 58 to 60 on 105. The customer is happy and does not have any issues. Their equipment: Type 1 SD, DP 34, Dish 811, DP 508, DP 510. The only issue I had with this install was when I peaked the dish on 119 the only receiver that even saw a glimmer of signal on 105 was the 811. If I had not had the 811 I don't know if I ever would have peaked the dish. After peaking on the 811 the 508 and 510 worked fine.
So now to my current install. I performed a 105 install on Saturday for a brand new customer with a 322. Again I have screaming signal on 110/119, but this time I'm showing absolutely nothing on 105. I've tried moving it slowly but have had no luck. I've tried it connected to both Port 1 and Port 3 of the DP 34. At this time I have not tried switching out the LNBF or the DP 34 (because I figure I'm just not aimed at the 105). Fortunately I'm related to the customer and they have been extremely patient. I will not be able to make it back to the install site until tomorrow or Thursday at the earliest.
Can I get some advice on what all I need to double check? Any other tips/tricks I could try?

First go get a Digisat III peak on 119 and lower the signal on 110.
If you get over 100 on 110 you will not get 105. I have installed about 150 super dish in my area. I read all kind of instruction on how to peak but give my advice a try and you will see for yourself...on 110 stay around 85 to 90 peak on 119 over 115 nd you should get a 70 or better on 105.
Let me know. :D
I must be really spoiled down here in Cola. S.C. tp.11&12 119 is 125 and 110 is 120 with 105 on tp 5 at 74. When my superdish was installed by Jefferson pilot 105 was at around 65. I re-peaked 105 and obtained a signal of 74. I have the type 1 dish that has the metal reflector and let me tell ya, it is a BIG PAIN IN THE BACKSIDE to peak. I have been told that the type2(plastic Reflector) is easier to point and peak.

You should be able to directly peak the 105 with your sat finder. Is there a LOS issue on the 105? I have ran into this. I did an install last week where I had the 121/119 on the SD, and the 110 had to be put on a D300(fortunately, there was already an existing D* mount). LOS on 3 birds can be an issue. Also, the 105 sucks right now, so getting a signal is more difficult. I got a good signal with a 40x30" P* dish, but you have to use a legacy switch with that.

I have achieved over 110% on 110 and 119 as well in some cases and still got 105 in good and I am in Western WV.

I bought an Acutrac 22 Pro from Perfect 10 and hooked up one side of the meter to 119 and the other to 105. After a little bit of playing around with the azimuth and elevation I finally got it, but it still wasn't showing on the screen. I had to switch 105 to port 1 on the DP34 and leave it there for it to work. I did a second SuperDISH install over the weekend and got it tuned in really quick with my new meter. It saved me several hours.
Thanks for all your help.

When doing a SuperDish installation there is a certain procedure that you have to go by in order to get things to work and identify correctly. The first thing one should do is tune in 119 the best they can by hooking it up to port one/satellite one in the DP-34 switch. Tune it into an odd transponder number such as 17 since it may not recognize it as DishPro until the check switch is done initially. After you tune in the signal do the check switch then go to 105 on the signal strength screen. Connect 105 to port one, 110 to port two, and 119 to port three. See if 105 is already coming in and fine tune the dish ever so slightly. It should not take very much movement left/right or up/down (elevation) to get the 105 signal. After the 105 signal comes in do another check switch and remember to checkmark the SuperDish box.

From various online sqaubles and after reading the installation updates, put 119 on 1 do a check switch, tune it in. Put 110 on 1, do a check switch, tune it in. Put 105 on 1, do a check switch, tune it in. When you are finished, put 119 on 1, 110 on 2, 105 on 3, do a check switch, call in to activate the receiver.

IMHO, the Accutrac 2 is JUNK. The DigiSat3 is a MUCH better sat finder. It has the ability to distinguish between all 3 ports on a DP34, so you can check the reading on each sat without unhooking anything.

Try tuning your superdishes off of the 110 satellite, your skew in indiana should be 111, elevation about 43 and az. will start sweeping about 203degrees.
If you peg the signal on your 110 above the mid 70's, youll most likely get your 105 lnb in.

no one has said this yet from what i have read, but some 322's and 522's do not see the 121 or 105 UNTIL you download the software. Have you done this yet?
