Whats up with Dish Screwing Old Customers.. I have been a customer of dish for a while now and somehow i have managed to get up to $95 a month bill with HD and Locals, but just top 120.. Well I have finally discovered they are charging me $10 a month for leasing and 5 on a box i bought.. so i call dish and talk to them and she is like well the deal is better now days you don't have to pay for your first box.. I mean what kind of crap is that.. i know its just five dollars but give me a friggin break.. Dish pisses me off!! sorry just had to vent....
Actually you're not getting screwed. I have the same $5 charge as you do for the first receiver but our promotion includes the warranty where as the new ones don't. Like you said, it's just $5...

Keep your head up. Believe me most cable customers have it a lot worse on the nickel and dime factor. Call 888-920-GIFT and request some ClubDISH cards, sign up a couple of friends and you can save $5 a month per referral for a year, up to 12 a year. If you do the math that could save you up to $60 a month if you found 12 friends ... $720 a year.
Yeah, I wish I could sign up 12 friends, But I can't find anyone and I don't feel like spamming the internet. If you wanna pass my numbers around, you could help me out ;)

So your getting screwed? Thats odd because DirecTV does the same thing, so does comcast, and probably every other TV provider.

$95/mo for AT120 with locals and HD? That's $50. How many boxes do you have that they get it up to $95?

I tried the club dish thing with my father-in-law, but the installer that he used switched numbers and used one of his instead of mine, so I got screwed out of the savings. I've tried correcting this with dish, but finding the English speaking CSR who actually gives a @#$% is not easy.

Heh, wow I missed that one, yeah his math is way off, the price should only be $64.98 for what he has set up.

Find you a local retailer that sells dish, they are usually more than willing to take the cards and use them for their new customers. It gives them that much more of a ploy to pull in new customers by saying they will wave their installation charge. Then all you have to do is sign in to your dish account and monitor when they get used and what not. you may not see the credits on your bill though for 4-6 weeks once they have been used.

Really pay $95 a month no Joke... Have 3 boxes... AT120 and the movie channels and HDYou didn't say anything about movie channels before. That could add quite a bit to your bill, depending on which ones you have. Also, each DVR adds another $5, and the 2nd and 3rd receivers add another $5 each. That is all normal and plainly explained on their website and promotional materials.

I pay $5 for every receiver not just second and third.... $5 a piece for two leases and $5 for the 811 I own.. Anyone know will Dish just let you subscribe to just their HD and drop everything else?
I pay $5 for every receiver not just second and third.... $5 a piece for two leases and $5 for the 811 I own.. Anyone know will Dish just let you subscribe to just their HD and drop everything else?If you lease, no. You are committed to getting the AT60. When you purchased your 811, you may also have committed to purchasing the HD pack for a period of time.
The additional receiver and the lease fee are mutually exclusive of each other, but serve the same purpose. Either way you go, you pay an extra $5 for the receiver per month. You do NOT pay any type of fee, be it an additional receiver fee or a lease fee, for your first receiver.
Your bill should look something like:
$35 AT120 (included 1st lease receiver)
$5 Locals (required with DHA lease plan)
$5 2nd leased receiver fee
$5 811 Additional Receiver Fee
$10 HD Pack fee
$60 Total
Add in the fee for your movie package (fees found here (http://www.dishnetwork.com/popUps/programming/movies/movies.shtml)) and you should have your bill, minus tax of course. If you get all 4 movie packages, that's another $37 so yeah, $95 sounds right. I also didn't add in any DVR fees as you haven't said
Tell us exactly what is on your bill (what packages you subscribe and what receiver models you possess) and we can check it, but so far everything seems right. The movie channels quickly add up obviously. You might have been able to save a few bucks by getting a 322 to get rid of the two leased receivers.

$10 HD Pack fee

If you don't mind, show me where locals are required in the DHA lease plan. Eerything I have read states something along the lines of subscribing to AT60 or above to avoid any penalties or cancellation fees.

Most cable companies ALSO charge per box if you get digital similar to Dish. The free splitting is for analog.

I think Comcast charges about $15 per box for their digital channels.

i wasn't fussin cause they charge was fussing because new customers don't have to pay for the first box and I do.. it isn't right.. All customers new or old should be treated the same.. bad business practice on dish's part
They plans aren't the same. Yes you're paying $5 on the first box, but it has a built in warranty on a receivers and the new plan doesn't.
If you don't mind, show me where locals are required in the DHA lease plan. Eerything I have read states something along the lines of subscribing to AT60 or above to avoid any penalties or cancellation fees. All of the DHA literature shows the AT60 for $29.99 period. AT120 for $39.99. At180 for $49.99. If LILs are available in your area they are included. If not, you're SOL.
In DHP, the previous leasing plan, locals were an option for $6.99.

Different Promotions have different rules. When the Free Dish promotion was around, they didnt cahrge the 1st box, but after 1 year, the box was out of warranty. But with DHA, since you LEASE the boxes, you pay $5 for each box but since they are LEASED, they will service that equipment for free.
