Hmmmm.... I think I'm going to try and resurrect something that another user was doing a few months ago, and put in a twist...

Anyone want to try out... Saturday Night Movie Chat?

How does Saturday Night Movie Chat work? Simple: During the week, you vote on the movie that will be watched Saturday night.
Then, once the movie is decided on, tune to that channel and join us in the chat room.
You watch the movie LIVE. No DVR or DVD playback.
Mock the movie, mock the commercials, mock the promos, chat about life in general. Just respect each other. The movies will be selected based upon the following criteria:
The movie has to be available on both Dish's AT-180 package and DirecTV's Total Choice Plus.
The movie begins between 10 PM-1 AM ET/7-10 PM PT.
No premium channel movies unless the channel is in freeview mode on both systems.
Even if the movie is airing on a local network channel, it does not qualify due to time zone differences. And, even all that is subject to modification.

Since this is an experiment, we'll try this for one week, then look at the aftermath.

This weeks movies are: Men In Black (TBS-10:00) - A veteran agent and a rookie protect mankind from dangerous extraterrestrials roaming the Earth.
Searching for David's Heart (FAMILY-10:00) - A grief-stricken teenager tries to find the recipient of her late brother's heart.
The French Connection (FMC-10:00) - New York Detective ``Popeye'' Doyle and his partner chase a French heroin smuggler.
Pulp Fiction (AMC-10:15) - Two hit men, a boxer, a crime boss and others meet their fates over the course of two days.
Fools Rush In (TNT-10:30) - A New York WASP and a feisty Latina wed when a one-night fling leaves her pregnant.
Dirty Little Secret (LMN-10:45) - Buried secrets are unearthed after a kidnapping.
Species II (SCIFI-11:00) - A half-alien woman searches for her male counterpart.
Not Another Teen Movie (COMEDY-11:00) - A high-school quarterback bets a rival he can transform an unpopular student into a prom queen.
Georgia (LIFE-11:00) - A struggling singer craves what her older sister casually maintains: talent, success and happiness.
Mannequin (WE-11:00) - A Philadelphia window dresser woos a mannequin brought to life by the spirit of an ancient princess.
A Boyfriend For Christmas (HALLMARK-11:00) - A woman waits 20 years for a holiday wish to come true.
This Is Spinal Tap (IFC-11:00) - A filmmaker documents a desperate British rock group's ``Smell the Glove'' album tour.
Vera Cruz (TCM-11:30) - An ex-Rebel major and an outlaw escort a countess taking gold to Emperor Maximilian.
Rambo III (WGN-11:30) - Loner Rambo leaves a Buddhist monastery to free his Green Beret mentor from Soviets in Afghanistan.
Indecent Proposal (USA-12:00) - A Las Vegas mystery man offers a desperate couple $1 million for a night with the wife.
Back to the Future, Part II (TBS-12:00) - A young man and his inventor friend must take a DeLorean time machine to 2015.
The Chase (FX-12:00) - An escaped convict kidnaps an heiress, then steers her BMW for Mexico with police close behind.
Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (FMC-12:00) - A sexpot's lipstick promo advances a TV adman.
Mickey Blue Eyes (TNT-12:30) - Man wants to marry mobster's daughter.
All You Need (LMN-12:30) - Members of a problematic family deal with alcoholism and the breakup of a marriage on Thanksgiving.
This is Spinal Tap (IFC-12:30) - A filmmaker documents a desperate British rock group's ``Smell the Glove'' album tour. All times EASTERN. A nice mix of class and cheese.

I'd have to pick a movie on TNT because that's the only channel on there that has a chance for being HD.

There's an HD Fox movie and probably some networks at *, but it looks like you wrre going for 10PM+

So far, it looks like we have a tie between "The French Connection" on FMC at 10pm E, and "This is Spinal Tap" on IFC at 11pm E. The final choice is still up in the air. Just a few votes could turn the tide. I can readily kibitz either flick, but I want to have a good group of witty and clever friends in the chat tomorrow night who have the mental acuity to join with us and are equal to the task.

A word of warning, though. If you have a DVR and pause the movie to go pee or make more popcorn, when you return you will be behind the rest of us, and we will be ahead of you. Kind of a time-stretching effect, like when traffic is still backed up when the accident has long since been removed. Of course, if you have a TV set in your kitchen and your bathroom like I do, then you won't need to pause to pee in the first place. :)

Just try to be there, and check back in with Mark in this thread to find out what movie we will be watching when.

Oh goody, this is going to be fun! :D

(I really need to get a life! )

I forgot to mention that I can take my wireless laptop around the house with me so you won't have to miss any of my witty remarks. :D Tune in and see if you can tell when I am posting from the potty!

The people have spoken. It's time to watch a movie. Join us in the DBSTalk Chat Room (http://chat.dbstalk.com) at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT for the Fox Movie Channel presentation of The French Connection (Dish 133/DirecTV 258). Please don't adjust your TV, as the black bars are normal for this presentation.

The second feature will be This Is Spinal Tap (Dish 131/DirecTV 550) at 12:30 AM ET/9:30 PM PT. Since IFC is showing this movie several times tonight, plus it was also a popular vote getter, why not take advantage of the alternative times?

The key word to remember is to keep it clean. There may be a surprise or two in store.
