Hi all,

I live in in area of Virginia where county ordinances only allow one cable tv/internet provider to service us. This provider doesn't offer much content tailored for Latinos/Hispanics by-and-large. I would like to get DishNetwork as an x-mas gift for my husband, who's Brazilian and a HUGE soccer fan. We live in an apartment, where the management company has refused to sign the "Letter of Permission" required by DishNetwork (even though we have a balcony which is exclusively part of our unit); so I've decided to do a self-install on a tripod. I want to keep our current cable tv/internet service and also add the dish. Since the dish system is only for 2 a-la-carte international channels offered by DishNetwork (Globo TV Intl & Record Intl - both from Brazil, on satellites 61.5 and 148) I wanted to know if the DishNetwork 311 system that comes with a Dish 500 which is available at RadioShack (SKU #16-2808) would work for the international programming? My other question is about our line-of-sight to these satellites and the equipment. Since our balcony faces south-east I wanted to know which satellite would be best and if the system I'm considering can even "tune in" either of these satellites?

31 day before X-Mas,

Vilma

61.5 is your best possibility give us your zip code and we can give you the compass heading you would need. The 311 can receive any programming DISH offers except High Definition.

Yes the receiver can get international programs no problem.

Yes you can use the Dish 500 to point to 61.5 (not 148 from your location) to get the international channels you want.

148 is way over to the west and very low on your horizon so you do not want to use that one.

Keep in mind that if you do not get a "regular package" Americas Top 60 or higher there is an additional $5 monthly access fee for programming. So the TV Globo/Record International will cost $29.99 for the package + $5 access fee a month.

see ya
