View Full Version : Smart Card auth after unplugged problem
I have a 6000 (with both modules) that has been working great. I disconnected it from power and the dish input for a couple weeks during some remodeling.
I reconnected it, it says my smart card is not authorized. I tried reseating the card and re-powering the unit and also doing the hold the power button reset. I left it over night to see if it would pick up and it didn't. Unit has a Yellow Smart card.
Do they de-activate them when they are disconnected for awhile?

Yes, The new cards self de-activate if disconected from satellite stream.

I wonder how long it has to be disconnected from the stream to deactivate. That could be a real problem for RVers.

There shouldn't be a problem, my parents often unplug everything but the fridge when they go back and forth from residences... they have had to call for re-hit three times. They said CS was very understanding and did the re-hit's with no problems.
They got hit by lightening a few years back, and now they unplug everything that they don't want to have to replace.

To hijack Bobby C's question how many hours/days etc, before having to get the card rehit, I am a rver and sometimes go 10-12 hours without being connected to the stream, am I going to have to call every day ?
Bob
I've heard two to three weeks but have never tested.

Then it's not a problem.....
Mine was down for 16 days before I noticed, so it the inactivation period is 16 days or less. I will call for a re-hit on Friday.
