I just recently upgraded from a 3000 series receiver to a PVR508.
I am using the s-video and optical audio connections.
These go into my Sony STR-DE897 Receiver.
I hear some hard drive noise through my speakers.
Is there any remedy for this?

What makes you think the noise is from the hard drive? I've never heard of that getting getting out through the analog stereo jacks, let alone the digital optical port.

I have a guy who works with me and he has a dell laptop that does the same thing... but his noise is coming through the analog 1/8" jack. His power supply has a 3prong grounded plug. When we put a ground-lift on the end of it and then plug it in, the noise goes away... You can tell it is hard-drive noise by how it coincides with the little flashing LED harddrive light on the laptop.

My noise is exactly the same. Though, honestly, today it seems as if the noise is greatly reduced than when I first posted this thread. I wonder if it might have been some sort of atmospheric thing. I get those warnings from Dish whenever there is going to be a solar flare or something similar.

In fact, as I write this... I put on HBO and Old School is on right now. There was a rare quiet time in the movie, so I cranked the receiver WAY up... Guess what?!?! No freekin' noise... Sorry to have wasted anyones time.
Thanks for the efforts though.
