Could a DirecTV subscriber living in Connecticut please comment if DirecTV passes along the state satellite tax to you?

I'm nearing the end of my contract with E*, which currently tacks on a monthly charge of $2.81 to any programming package for the satellite tax ($2.65 flat fee + .16 CT 6% sales tax assessed on the $2.65 -yes, a tax on a tax).

On my current $34.99 monthly programming bill, E* is charging more than the 5% that Connecticut levies on satellite companies for gross revenues, and the satellite tax flat fee that the company passes along is in addition to the 6% CT sales tax on programming.

E*'s programming packages used to be one or two dollars less a month than DirecTV's fees before the satellite tax flat fee was instituted.

I'm trying to determine if DirecTV now has a total lower cost. Would the monthly cost of Total Choice without Locals be $39.21 ($36.99 + $2.22 CT sales tax) or are there other charges added?

Thank you for the information.

WHNB; Yes. Its 6% CT sales tax plus "...a 5% CT gross earnings tax that took effect 7/1/2003 for satellite TV".

Thats directly from the bottom of my Directv bill.
