I would greatly appreciate any information anyone can give me. I am trying to install and configure a Philips dsr704 to receive from the 72.5 satellite. I purchased and installed a zinwell 6x8 and attached the following: a dual lnb round dish to the first two ports, nothing to the second two, one lnb from a dual lnb round dish to the first flexport and nothing on the second flexport. I have the Philips and two older sony's connected to the first 4 outputs (two for the philips).

I activated and confirmed activation of my locals. Using a meter I found a satellite at roughly 173, 50 and find tuned although I could never get it as strong as the 101 satellite. The I ran autoconfigure on the philips but it only finds the 101 on both inputs. I have rebooted, rerun the autoconfig, etc., etc. until I am about to pull my hair out. I have confirmed that the philips has the "e" software and it has been active and pointed at the bird for 24 plus hours.

The last two time I ran autoconfig, the philips identified the zinwell as a "4 port" versus "diseqc" it had been saying previously. Nothing has changed in my setup to my knowledge. I have tried manual config selecting both round and oval, 2 satellite. Reboots, unplug reboots, NOTHING seems to work. The only thing I haven't tried is the "delete everything option" - I don't want to lose my recordings. Is it possible I have the wrong satellite? The is NO WAY I have 101, 110 or 119 and I can't see how I could possibly have 95. It is a very basic meter I used and I had to directly connect it to the lnb and one of my boxes (I'm not sure which one) bypassing the zinwell to make it work although it would squeel off and on when I autoconfiged with it in-line.

Anyone have any ideas??????? Thanks in advance, Bryan

Good Evening Bryan,
Welcome to DBSTalk :D

The Philips DSR704 is APG compatable....That's the good news.
I would start by going to this web site to comfirm your 72.5 info:
http://emantechnology.com/lookangle.asp
(use the 72 degree satellites for the info)
Now I admit ignorance. I have never seen or installed a Philips...
I have installed other DVR's. They have required a phone line connection for the software download and a setup for the phone in the receiver before it would download. Then you can force a software update.
When dealing with the 72.5 you have to configure the IRD (receiver) for your primary dish type first (round, dual LNB), then run autoconfig to find the 72.5. If you are not pointing at the 72.5 with your 2nd dish when you run autoconfig.....your screwed, the IRD will not acknowledge it.
Your switch connections sound right, although I would run cable from both outputs from both LNB's on your dual LNB dish to the 4 switch inputs.
Someone with experience with your configuration will correct me if I'm wrong ;) Keep checking back.
Hope this helps

Only the one line is required from 72.5 to flex port 1 so it sounds like your switch is hooked up properly. You can look at this manual for detailed instructions http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=35406&highlight=72.5+manual
