View Full Version : Need Help With Recording Issues On ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 PRO
Hello everyone! I have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 9000 Pro in my HTPC. I know its not the best card, but it works (most of the time). I recently hooked up HD cable (SA3250HD STB) to the S-Video input and composite audio input on the card. Before that, I just used the NTSC analog TV tuner on the card for TV. Before I could pause, FF and RW the TV feed and the sound would also be recorded and played back with the picture. Now, with the new set-up the card fails to capture the sound at all. When I pause, only the picture pauses, the sound just keeps on going. when I record no sound is captured. I'm running the sound thru the computer, and back out my SB Audigy 2 ZS card to my home theater system. (linked by optical digital) I tried connecting the composite video, with the composite audio and that didn't help. What is wrong with this card's software? this same thing happended to me when I first got the card, then I fixed it with a $35 call to ATI. we found a setting to be wrong in some menu, I can't figure out how to get to again. I don't want to have to call them again. Can anyone help? Thanks for your help indvance!

I have the same card in my computer and haven't had any problems capturing. Do you have the latest drivers and multimedia center software installed? ATI recently did a MAJOR upgrade to the mulitmedia center software, I believe it is now at version 9.02.
Using the purple input block, all I've done is connect the audio and s-video connections to my device and I'm able to record the video and audio without a problem using the default settings.
Perhaps you should completely uninstall all the ATI software and drivers, then download/install the new versions and see if that corrects the issue.
Thanks for your help! Which download do I want? Their website isn't really that helpfull? I'm running XP, and I got this card pre-installed on my Dell 8300. I have added on the RF remote (USB version, don't know if its 1.1 or 2.0?) from ATI for this card. will the download effect the remote? I'm affraid it will stop working, if I do the download. thanks for your help!
I've got ATI Multimedia center 8.1, currently.

I've got ATI Multimedia center 8.1, currently.
They've made numerous changes and improvements since that version!
If you follow their website and select WinXP, type of driver, and your model of adapter, you are presented with the correct drivers to download automatically. You should uninstall EVERY ATI program and driver, including your display drivers and those for the remote control. Download all the new Catalyst 4.11 display drivers and install those first. Then install the new MMC 9.03 as instructed (install the DAO, then the DVD decoder, then the MMC). Then install the Remote software. For the remote, you only need to know whether it is an original remote or the Remote II. It should be noted on the remote itself which it is.
If I uninstall every driver, how will I be able to see what I'm doing? I have my monitor connected by the DVI output on the 9000 PRO card. The remote says "RF remote control" I issume that means version 1? Does the Catalyst keep the monitor running while the new software is being installed?

When you uninstall the ATI drivers, WinXP will default to the standard driver for display (typically at 640x480 resolution). So you will still be able to see things!
Then you can install the ATI Catalyst drivers (have them downloaded to a known location BEFORE you uninstall the current drivers).
I can't tell you about the remote, as both models are RF remotes. The Remote II is more advanced with a longer range than the original, though, so it uses a different driver/software.
Ok, I installed all the new software. I figured out I have to remote 1. The pause feature STILL doesn't work in TV, and now I can't get the remote to work!!!! I installed its new software, and checked to have the remote automaticlly start with Windows and display an icon in the taskbar. It does neither. I un-plugged it and Windows said it was ready to use and everything is installed. I had this problem the first time I installed the remote too, I figured out about the start with Windows check box and that fixed it. What is going on now????? I am going crazy trying to figure this stuff out, ATI is no help and I still have the Pause problem in TV!!!! BTW their installation instructions where the worst I have ever read. It skipped every other step, and left me thinking quite a few times. Can anyone help? Thank you!!!!!
I think I figured out one clue to why Remote Wonder wasn't working. First of all, On ATI website, they are directing me to the Wrong driver (its for Remote Wonder 2), then once you get it download, it says Remote Wonder 2 everywhere and there is a picture of Remote Wonder 2 on every icon. Why are they directing me to the Wrong driver? I don't get it??? Where is the Remote Wonder 1 Driver software? I can't find it and I'm left with a Remote 1 that doesn't work.
