I saw this auction

for a hacked HR10....double the hard drive space and the networking is enabled. It's quite a bit more but if works I think it would be worth it. Has anyone used one of these? How is the networking......working? :D
TIA

Do it yourself, cheaper and fun to play with. I just added my second 250 GB drive this weekend. The first hack with getting the network going is easy and once you have that you can do the rest over the network, no more opening the case.
HD Tivo 999 dollars
2 250GB drives - 2* 80 dollars( great deal at CC last week)
USB200M USB ethernet adaptor - 30 dollars
Total <1200 dollars and you have your original drive should something go bad, plus if you buy local you can always return it should something go wrong during the hacking.

The networking is actually more important to me than adding the second hard drive. Is adding networking as easy as plugging in the USB adapter and running it to your router? Is there any software that has to be used/enabled?
Thanks

go to dealdatabase.com message boards. No you cannot just plug it in to your network. you need to backup/restor your drive then disable the tivo restore feature and finally add the network drivers(already on the disk) to the init script. Cracking the box is the hardest part.

Does this have to be done with a windows PC?
Thanks for the link...my unit should be here today!

You need a Fat32 HD in the box with about 2GB on it to do the backup/restore, but you DO NOT want to put your drive in a windows machine, you need to boot to a linux cd, you can get the image from links on dealdatabase.com.
If you boot in a windows pc it may trash your drive.
