Do you get Local Forecasts on dbs Weather Channel?
How does it know what city you are in? On cable, they have Local Forecasts on the "eights" of every hour. (9:08, 9:18, 9:28, etc) Watching the Weather Channel last night, when they said "Now for your local forecast, always on the eights of every hour" it just went to a generic national weather loop of weather of the previous three hours, nothing local.

That's what you get, a generic loop. No local forecasts
on the satellite feeds. E* offers local weather forecasts on Ch. 9500 through "Open TV." I believe the forecasts are prepared by
Accu-Weather. I'm not sure what D* has.

DirecTV does have something like the OpenTV feature, but you need a receiver with Wink to use it. In fact the Weather Channel has 2 Wink Channels, one being the main Weather Channel which gives you minor weather details, and then there is another totaly Wink Weather Channel which gives you nice wearhter graphics and tempatures for your area.

If you have a D* Interactive receiver, you can receive local forecasts through the Weather Interactive channel. It is quite easy to use.
