View Full Version : Sat 119 even transponder problems
I am having on and off problems with even transponders. I have a superdish 121 on the roof and 34 switch in the basement. The system ran fine for eight or nine months. I run one 501 and two 301s. First only showed up in the bedroom. 301 would not recognize the switch, checked at my camp and 301 acted the same so I got a reman 301 because of warrantee. Some problems continued so I ran Quad shield to the bedroom and swapped the 34 switch with the 34 switch from camp. Problem is now worse and on all TV's with some even transponders on 119 with 0 signal and some bouncing from 0 to 63. There is snow on the roof now and retailer is reluctant to go on the roof and so am I. By the way forgot to mention that many of the even transponders read from 92 to 123 depending on which one you check. Could this be an lnb problem or just a wire problem? Do lnbs fail on evens only or all or nothing. Frustrated In Maine.

First thing to check (like it or not) is the connections at the dish.
You said it yourself - you've got moisture up there now. Leakage shorts? Corrosion?
Its snowing and freezing rain now in Maine. I just screw my old dish 500 on the front porch for now until the roof is safe. It isn't pretty on the front porch, but its working great. I can't believe I just put the dish on the post and the dish was aimed perfectly. At least something is going right. I was just wondering if any one ran across and lnb just losing the even transponders and the lnb being the problem.
Check your connections for corrosion.
Poor allignment with a Super Dish will also give you a loss of even or odd transponders.
Suggest you tough it out till spring. Unless your a football fan.

I had the same problem (even TPs erratic, odd TPs good) on one receiver, not the other. After a very long series of swapping and testing, I isolated the problem at my SW21. Bought a cheap replacement on eBay, replaced the bad switch, and everything's worked normally ever since.
I found corrosion on the 119 wire and fixed it and moved the dish to a lower location but problem still persists. It must be the LNB because we swapped wires around and still have the problem. Could the corrosion and high resistance have caused problems with the LNB? Are the LNB's under warrantee for a year like the receivers? While siliconing the holes where the dish had been a sudden wind blew the ladder down. I was lucky that a neighbor down the street drove up in about 15 minutes. Funny now but not while I was stuck there .
Changed LNB today and system is working fine. Problem was in wire and LNB.
A little late but never go on a roof without a working phone in you pocket.
