I'm using a "Nikon Coolscan V film/slide scanner" to scan 35mm color slides. When I try to alter the properties of the resulting TIF files by:
right-clicking the file name
selecting "properties"
clicking on "summary" tab
making sure I'm in the "Simple" display with "Title", "Subject", etc
any alterations I try to make result in the following error message:
"Changes to Summary properties could not be saved; access has been denied.
The file may be marked read-only or may be in use by another application."
I get the message even after re-booting with no programs running.
I've made sure the file is not marked read-only by issuing this command-line instruction:
attrib -r myfilenamehere.tif
I've copied the files to other directories.
I've opened, modified and re-saved the files in Photoshop and other programs.
Nothing I've done allows me to modify the properties, but I'm able to do so to TIF and JPG files from my flatbed scanner or sources other than the Coolscan.
I'll send an e-mail to Nikon, but wanted to post here in case anyone can suggest a remedy.
Thanks in advance.
P.S - I'm running Windows XP Professional on a Dell 8600 notebook
