View Full Version : Unknown Recorded Event 0 sec

My first attempt at recording an OTA program now that 211 has arrived, resulted in a total wipe out of all recorded programs.
Now if I try to record any future program, the odds are I will get the
"Unknown Recorded Event" listed in the DVR list with 0 Sec for it and no record lite.
Note: this is on Dish programs, not OTA ones.
This was working perfectly before the download of 211. Never lost a single program. Now with 211 I might get one in 10 recorded.
Did I get a bad down load?
Can I get the download done again?
What can I do?
I have power on button rebooted.
I have rebooted by pulling the smart card.
I have pulled the plug on the 921 for a half hour.
The 921 thinks the recording is still in progress when this occurs.
If I try to stop the phantom recording it doesn't stop, still says "rec" in red in the banner.
If I look in the DVR list it shows the timer set properly.
I am at my wits end here. My almost perfect 921 is now a vegetable.
Hoping that someone can help.

I have had a total of three 0 second recordings since getting the new update.
Looks like the beta testers were smoking crack again instead of testing things.

Wow, someone else is having the same problem.
Scott, did yours occur on OTA or Dish channels?
This morning I tried four Dish and one OTA and got only one Dish channel recorded. All the others were 0 seconds.
Any idea on what we can do about this. My 911 is now virtually worthless.

Grandude, call Dish and talk to the 921 support team. If they don't call you back within 24 hours, email me your contact info and I'll get them to call you. If that many timers are failing for you, then there's something else going on with your 921, and it probably needs to be replaced. In the last 7 weeks, I've recorded more than 400 hours worth of programming on my 921, and haven't had a single timer fail to record, satellite or OTA. And the 16 hours between when I got L211 and you got it, mine was recording timers non-stop for 12 of them, with no failures.
No crack smoking going on in my house...

No you don't need it, you already got the Altitude to deal with. :D

Mark,
I called Dish and am now waiting for a call back. Tech I talked to was going to escalate my problem up the ladder!

Brian, if you don't hear back from them today, email me your contact info, and a short description of the problem, and I'll forward it to the 921 support team leader directly.

Of all of the 921 issues (including requiring a subscription to locals in order to receive OTA guide information), the "0 second record" or "0 minute record" problems are the ones I find least forgivable. We pay an extra $5 "video on demand" fee, but the feature is not reliable. I am calling Dish and reporting when this happens, but that takes time and really sucks. I think that it would be proper of them to suspend the fee until they can make the recording feature reliable again.
