I think that it is great that DISH is still improving the 7100/7200s.

I lost track, has Dish taken over the client software or is it still coming from Microsoft? Mark, do the notes indicate which features and fixes come from receiver software 125 or client software 17007? Or is it all just lumped together?

FWIW, I'm wondering the same. Who handles development of the DP7200 these days?

The notes were all lumped together, but I seem to remember something a while ago saying that Dish had taken over the client software, and that MS didn't have anything to do with it anymore. Could be mistaken on that, though.
I heard the same thing -- DISH is doing ALL the software for the 7100 and 7200s.
Does webtv still work on these things?

What's an HDD upgrade indicator?
What's an HDD upgrade indicator?
Since I do not have a 7100/7200 I am just guessing here.
I think that they are "officially" indicating that the user has upgraded the HDD.

n0gcu,
Yes the 7x00 were a very popular model way back then because it was simple to easy to upgrade harddrives
but the model number under reciver information would read unknown if you had done a hdd upgrade. now it just says 7200+ HDD Upgraded
Thanks Mark, great news indeed! I have a legacy 7200 along with my 721. I was beginning to get concerned that Dish was going to orphan the 7200. So this is good news.

I hope this is good news. Truth be told, my 7200s have worked better in the last year than they have in the previous 5 years. They seem to have gotten most of the bugs out except for the occasional intermittent blinkouts. I definitely like their PVR functions better than the 921 (so far...).
Since Dish is taking over the software maintance for the 7200 - is web-tv remaining microsoft's web-tv or is it/will it become Dish's internet portal?

I think that the DP's are becoming for E* what win2K is for MS. I like WinXP but more stable than that is a computer running win2k with all the patches. Far more stable and a bit faster. If they kill them, there are gonna be a lot of disgusted customers... One of them... me!

DISH is NOT planning on "killing" the model 7100 and 7200 DishPlayers. The DishPlayers will support the new yellow (more secure) Smartcards which DishPlayer owners will be getting within the next six months.
