Recorded South Park while watching Charlie Chat tonight. Then went to OTA PBS-HD for a few minutes. Then played back South Park. Noticeably choppy video on recorded program. Looked like 15 FPS or worse. Much worse than the normally (intentionally) crummy SP animation.

Also recorded Blue Collar TV and noticed same type of choppiness on playback especially on fast motion.

Tried switching to PBS-HD OTA then changing to sat program, thinking if switching away from OTA tuner would help. Then starting playback of recorded program. Same problem. Also tried recording another channel, animated program, hard to tell but playback appeared choppy as well.

It appears that playback is affected. Not sure about recording.

Did a smart card reboot and playback appears normal now.

My question is, does OTA decoding degrade recorded playback?

Hi Rory, If you look at the titles near your new post, you will see a topic about video jitters. What you are describing is here: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=36072
