This season's first FAST FORWARD is now online!

The FAST FORWARD is a scavenger hunt style question simular to the Detours. It may be attempted in addition to answering the other leg questions, but is not required. If you are the fastest to provide the correct answer, your time will jump ahead to 1st place. Only a direct YIELD against you will add any time and possibly thrwart this.

PLEASE NOTE: This fast forward is optional, but not without risk. If you attempt it and fail, the amount of time it takes for you to respond will be ADDED to the amount of time for your other leg questions, thus directly impacting your Detour scores as well as the Response Bonus.

Other than this time penalty, there is no score for attempting the Fast Forward unless you win it. You may still attempt the Detours found with the standard Leg 6 questions, and indeed are urged to do so in case of failure at this attempt.

Deadline to reply to the questions is midnight prior to the airing of the show (Eastern time).

Click here when you are ready to begin. (http://www.hform.com/form.cgi?1808640) Your time will begin once you click the START button found on that page.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a timed question. Before pressing START, make certain you are prepared to spend a few minutes answering them. Time begins when you press START, and ends when you hit the SEND INFO button found on the next page.

Good Luck!!!

PRIZE THIS SEASON IS A 20 GB APPLE IPOD.

The FAST FORWARD was the following question:FAST FORWARD: Somewhere on the DBSTalk forum I have delved down and edited an older post of mine (Danny R) with instructions on what the correct answer for this Fast Foward is. Find this post, and answer below as instructed in that edit. The edited text is obviously game related and can't be mistaken. Remember, if you do not win the Fast Forward, the time you take to respond to this question will be ADDED to your response time for the other questions. If you win the Fast Forward, you will leap into a tie for 1st place (current questions will be irrelevant).

So, just to be sure, the fast foward is scored AFTER the detour scores, but before the YIELD, the FF time it takes is still added to your total weekly answer time, but it doesn't matter because at the end of week 6 scoring you will be tied for first, unless you get hit with the Yield, and then you'll be 1 day out of first, right?

And "Attempt it and fail" means that you don't win the FF, right? Anyone not first with the correct answer fails.

I believe you have everything right. I'll clarify below in any case:

the FF time it takes is still added to your total weekly answer time, but it doesn't matter because at the end of week 6 scoring you will be tied for first

Just to be clear, the FF is not like another Detour route this time. If five people try it, the 2nd-5th don't get 1-4 days added to their time.

Instead, anyone who doesn't win the FF needs to make certain they finish a regular detour as well if they want to avoid maximum points. And the actual response time they wasted on the Fast Forward is added into their response time for the other questions.

unless you get hit with the Yield, and then you'll be 1 day out of first, right?

You would have to be hit with a specific yield targeting your name. Just targetting the "leader" would hit both you and the person you tied with, so you would still be tied.

and to verify. if you win the fast forward now. you can not win future ones. correct? If this is true... Can I win the fast forward and elect not to use it (similar to the yield), thus being able to win (use) it again later? Yeah I know it only applies to me this race but I would still maintain my lead but prevent someone else from catching up to me by answering quicker.

Or would it be pointless for me to even attempt it since I'm already in first?

Yes, if you win it now, you can't win it again later. An no, you can't opt out if you are the winner.

Or would it be pointless for me to even attempt it since I'm already in first?

You can still win it while in first, thus preventing others from using it.

Interesting, a few folks attempted the Fast Forward, but nobody found the answer...

Edited so the answer is no longer present. Didn't think I'd make it easy did you?

Oh well... one FF down... three to go.Will the remaining 3 be posted similar manner, as in as a seperate post like the regular weekly questions? I incorrectly assumed that the FF would be a part of a weekly question and you just had to choose to use it.

That's great, Danny! Very similar in style to Dan Collins' 4th trivia contest question over at DBSForums. I didn't bother with it this time around, but I probably would have had a shot at that one.

I missed that one, but I remember you talked about something simular once for the Survivor contests... about hiding the question somewhere in the forum, although you never actually did it.

One never knows... ;) As the rules state, Fast Forwards will come at any time.
