It was very strange. I turned on my 921, it was tuned to an OTA local, went into the DVR menu and selected a show to watch. The screen went black and nothing happened so I hit guide and that came up and the channel had switched to the channel the show I tried to watch was recorded on.

Went back into DVR and tried it again and the same thing happened but this time when I hit guide it went to channel 77 unknown with a black screen. After one more try at the DVR menu and going to channel 77 when I went back into the DVR menu all recorded shows were gone.

I then tried a power cord reboot and after it came back up there were still no recorded shows. Was frustrated so just turned it off and when I came back later my 5pm timer had not fired so I did another power cord reboot and after it went through its thing the timer fired.

Anyone else had this happen or know what I did to cause it?

It happened to me too unfortunately. Trying to record a channel that didn't do trick play was a bad thing. Lost stuff archived from last January!

something similar has happened to me but I did not lose all my recordings.. i did get the black screen.. i believe how i escaped was to go to the guide and select a know good non_OTA channel then when it came up i went back to the DVR guide and things were ok.... I think the common problem is NEVER leave your 921 on a OTA and turn it off.. funny things happen when you come back.. just a guess.

Welcome to the club. What we have determined here in the SF Bay Area is that there is an OTA channel that the 921 chokes on and causes this. Since you are in Oregon, you must have recorded a different one than we have. If you can remember which one, you might be able to duplicate the problem to prove it to yourself. After that, you will probably want to avoid that channel for recording.

Your description is almost identical to mine, including the channel 77 bit.
I lost over 100 hours of recordings, some I considered important.

Good luck,

Brian.......in Santa Rosa.............

The strange thing was it wasn't an OTA recording. It was South Park on Comedy Central, maybe I was being punished. :)

I have been getting unknown recordings with 0 seconds now with timers. Hope that doesn't continue.

Is there a chance that you had already recorded something OTA which has/had corrupted your hard drive?
My 921 didn't start working 'good' again until I had removed all recordings and then did a power plug reboot.

Yeah it is possible since I try to record the HD cast of local shows. Guess I don't have to worry about deleting my shows first huh?

I get sent to channel 77 whenever two tuners are busy recording. The screen is black. When I try to change the channel, it asks me to choose which of the two recording streams I want to view live.
