View Full Version : What is the problem with Starz on Demand?
A few months back I subscribed to Starz on Demand on Directv. Within the last few weeks there was a problem with sound levels - to Low. I called Directv who informed me Directv was having a system wide problem with low sound levels. The last two days it would appear the service has been discontinued.
Does anyone know what is going on with Starz on Demand?
I signed up for it a few weeks ago and have not noticed any problems. They don't send movies down every night it is just a couple of nights a week. The last ones I have are from 12/14. The next scheduled are on 12/20.
Look in the guide on channel 581 to see what is scheduled.
If you have Starz you can record them from channel 581 even if you don't have Starz on Demand.

If they would run Starz on Demand correctly it would be a great service. However there needs to be a way to prioritize the service to make sure you get the movies. I doubt it anyone who has any control over the service uses it, otherwise the problems would be evident.
First of all when I signed up it stated "See new movies before regular starz subscribers see them. Get new movies weeks before their general availability on Starz".
Now I'm paraphrasing but that's what it implied. What's been on in the last month? Sweet Home Alabama, along with other movies is saw on Starz a year ago.
The service is a good idea but has no value when it's ran the way it is. Would be nice to be able to pull up a list of movies in the showcases and check the boxes of the ones I want that week. Maybe 10 instead of 5 and then I can choose 3 or 4 of them.
In most cases I've seen the movie if I want to see it by the time it's on Starz on Demand....

STARZ on Demand certainly doesn't work as advertised. I don't mind some of the older releases showing up, but the upcoming movies don't seem to be appearing ahead of their regular STARZ schedule. I end up having to find them in the guide and set them to record.
One nice feature of the service compared to the regular STARZ is that I can watch the cast information in the closing credits without those annoying banners that tell me what movie I've been watching.
It would be nice if they would have more widescreen versions of movies, which are never shown on the regular STARZ channels. I don't see why they can't have both versions available at the same time. In fact, that is one of my main gripes about all of the premium channels - just about everything is in standard full-screen format. If they don't start to address this issue, I am going to cancel my premium channels and start watching movies on DVD, where I can get as much widescreen content as I want.
