with the directv "6 mos hd free w/1 year commitment" offer expiring 12/31, i'm wondering if i should take it or wait for whatever early 2005 offers? anyone heard of future hd offers? one sidenote, we'll get the $200 hd receiver credit promised prior, once we sign up whether it be now or a bit later.

thanks for any advice/info,

go for it now. They may come out with something better, but it won't be much better then that. Some are talking about a free for 3 months offer, so I would take it now.

yes, a tivo/directv dealer on the tivo forums also confirmed the 3 mos free offer for early next year. i see no reason not to do it now. especially with the $200 credit option.

How do you get the rebate. I called and they said that they will only offer the rebate on the units they sell, which they don't do as yet.

the receiver rebate was offered many months ago. i had the option of buying theirs or buying my own and getting a credit on my bill once the hd programming and the receiver were both activated. i activated the receiver a while ago and have been using for ota hd only. since directv didn't offer a receiver with an rf remote which i wanted, i went elsewhere to buy one.
