I am having the typical home theater 6 remote problem. I would like to know if anyone has found a universal remote that works with the dish pvr specifically the 721. I have gotten a remote to control everything else and even the basic functions fo the dish box but not one to recognize and control the PVR function. As for the silver dish remote it wont control my dvd player or my audio reviever so that leaves it out as the universal remote.

I use a Harmony 768 remote with all of my devices, including a 508. I see no reason why it couldn't control a 721. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlistharmony/US/EN,CRID=2080

Harmony 688. It is supposed to work with the PVR units. I have a friend who has a Harmony and says it is great.

I am using a Home Theater MX 500 to control my pvr 921, receiver, dvd, and tv. You might also take a look at Remote Central for some info.

What address do you have your 721 set for? Most universal remotes require the remote address to be set at #1 for them to work.

I'm using my Denon 4802 remote (RC-8000) to control everything, including my 921, which is set to remote address 8. To make this work, I had to first set the RC8000 up for the default DISH remote, then "re-teach" all the buttons (and add the DVR buttons) with remote address 8 using a 721 IR remote. It took about a half-hour, but everything works great with a couple of exceptions:
1. The channel up and channel down "hard" buttons on the remote aren't "teachable," and still think the receiver is on address 1. So they don't work, but the "soft" up and down arrow buttons do.
2. If you push the "down" arrow continuously while in a guide, it will keep moving the highlight down continuously, but for some reason the "up" arrow doesn't work this way.

BTW, with the new software (211), you can supposedly teach a remote with the IR blaster on the 921 - haven't tried this yet.

I also have a Home theater master 500. Excellent remote. My wifes remote is a Harmony 659. It's OK. The build quality and battery life on the HTM remotes far exceeds that of the Harmony.

They can both control.
