Just ordered the 921 and have some setup questions please.

My current setup is as follows:

One dish pointing to 61.5
Starband Dish pointing at 110 & 119 using two legacy LNB's

All LNB's connected to a SW64 which feeds a 501, 508 and a 721. The new 921 will replace the 721.

Dish sales person insisted that the 921 will require installation and scheduled a tech to come out. It seems to me, that I should be able to replace the 721 with the 921 just plug-and-play. Am I missing something?

Thanks

I don't think you are missing anything. I used mine with just an SW 64 for a while and it worked fine. If you get it running before the tech comes out just cancel the installation. John

plug it in where the 721 is now, run a check switch, should be good to go.

I'm with the majority on this one. My switch setup is exactly the same as yours and I can't see why you would have any problems.

Thanks.. It was a simple plug and play. So far works as advertised.

I have the same setup with an SW64 and it works fine. I was told by a dish tech that the SW64 shouldn't be powered up until all connections are made. Or, so I seem to recall anyway.

I just unplugged my old DishPlayer 7100 from my SW64, hooked the 921's first tuner to it, ran a second connection from the SW64 to the second tuner, and fired up the 921. I did a check switch, and it worked fine. I did not unplug the power inserter for the SW64. It just worked.
