LinkTV is availible only on DirecTV & Dish Network, with no cable carriage.

LinkTV is non-commercial and gets no funding from either Direct or Dish.

They must have a substantial audiance sending in money for the channel to go on.

Does anyone know how many viewers the channel has?

http://www.worldlinktv.org/

From their website:

"Link TV broadcasts programs that engage, educate and activate viewers to become involved in the world. These programs provide a unique perspective on international news, current events, and diverse cultures, presenting issues not often covered in the U.S. media. We connect American viewers with people at the heart of breaking events, organizations in the forefront of social change and the cultures of an increasingly global community."

They have a number of corporate sponsors.

Not many I would assume. But enough to keep the channel going.

Personally, I refuse to watch any channel where the production quality is less then that of my high schools audio video club :) IE- All the public interest channels.

I guess you haven't WATCHED any of them.

Many of LinkTV's programs come from major media outlets around the world such as Germany's Deutsche Welle.

You should watch the channel before you criticize it.

I'm not going to watch anything that makes me think I need a prescription change in my glasses because the picture is so blurry, fuzzy, out of focus and tinted red. That’s what I meant by production quality, I never stayed on the channel long enough to pay attention to the actual content. I used to flip past it now and then on Dish on my way to FSTV. I'm not a fan of public interest channels by any means, but FSTV should have been moved closer to Comedy Central that channel gave me so many laughs.

I don't know what the picture is like on DISH, but I've never noticed any of those PQ problems on DirecTV.

I took it off my guide which is saying a lot since I left the shopping channels on. None of the programming appeared at all interesting.

I used to surf through the PI channels just to see what was on them. Hardly ever do it anymore. I have to admit, one time I watched most of a movie on LinkTV, only because while I was surfing there was a ...umm... rather interesting scene involving a young lady au naturale. :D It was enough to make me watch!
