Just got a $29 DVR upgrade from dish network. You have to be enrolled in dish protection plan $5 a month, and if you are you can get a DVR upgrade for $29 upgrade fee. you just have to have AT 60 and this is a lease program so they own the receiver. Dont Know if this offer is for you, but you get charged
(1) $5 dish protection plan per month
(2) $5 Dvr fee
doesnt seem like a bad deal just though i would pass this along to my friends, hate to have the $5 protection plan but if the hard drive goes bad they will have to replace it under the plan, and hate the $5 dvr fee but have had it over a week and Love the world of DVR and since i have $10 in club dish credits it is a wash for me it might interested my friends wanting a dvr for themselves

Why would you need the protection plan if its a leased receiver? They own it. If there's a problem with it, it's *their* problem, not yours.
That said, if I can get a 921 for $29 bucks, count me in! I'll even cough up the $5 in "protection money!"

Sounds like it would be the 510 or 522....My assumption is that they would charge the $5/month because it covers EVERYTHING, not just the new receiver.

Last time I checked the 522 was still only leasing to new subs and not available for upgrade for existing leasing customers. I know the 510 is available for upgrade, but last time I checked a few months ago it was $49, not $29. I guess it has went down.

I recommend people to wait for the 522 next month. It has two tuners in it and NBR. Many will be ahead since they can sell their used receivers and get the special upgrade promotion for little or nothing, its money in people's pockets unless you have to pay the DVR fee.

Thanks Jacob! I will be definitely upgrading my 322 to the 522 next month.
What happened to the lease fee? You qoute $5 for protection plan, DHPP is actually $5.99/Mo DVOD fee is $4.98/Mo per DVR and lease fee is $5.00 /Mo. that is $15.97 per month for that DVR is it really a bargin?

I think they will sometimes waive the VOD fee if you lease it. At least I thought I read that in one of the threads on here. That may not be correct, but I read it, so take it for what it's worth.

I have never heard of the VOD fee EVER beeing waived unless you have the AEP package. That would be just as hard to do as getting Dish Network to waive the additional outlet fee on the additional receivers.
