Help. Everytime a create a timer automatically, the recording ends earlier then the end of the show, sometimes causing me to miss the ending. What could be causing this? Is there any way to adjust the time on the 501? Thanks

Have you reset the 501 lately ?
Anymore specifics on the timer?
How much of the end of the show are you always missing?

It happens when I select a program in the EPG and set a PVR. Typically I can miss up to 2 minutes (my wife missed the end of survivor and wasn't happy). I have not reset the 501 since I got it (about 4 weeks). Thanks

Uhhhh..... it's a problem with the program provider, not with the PVR. Sometimes they run a program a minute or two longer than scheduled, then immediately run the next show. The PVR can only go by the schedule start and stop times.
BTW: CSI and Survivor are consistantly CBS's two top rated shows. In addtion, AMC is constantly going off schedule.

You may find you need to go manually edit the timer after you create it to add the extra minute or two as needed.

Rob, that's what I have to do. The time on the 501 can't be changed, so you have to edit your timers so that they record enough extra to get the beginning and ending of shows. In Denver, I have to edit my timers to record as follows:
ABC: 7:59-8:59
NBC: 7:58-8:58
CBS: 7:58-8:59
Fox: 7:59-9:00
WB: 7:57-8:58
UPN: 8:00-9:01
The local stations don't follow real time usually, so when I have back to back timers going, those are the times that I use. If I don't have B2B timers, then I add time to the beginning and ending of the programs that I want to record. This isn't a Dish problem - it's a local station problem trying to draw people in for bigger ratings.
