522 purchase and activation

Hey Guys,
Has anyone purchased a new, unregistered 522 (Ebay) and manage to get it activated? Does thing ceo@eachostar thing really work? I've seen it recommended on several older posts but didn't catch anyone saying it worked.

You might want to consider waiting another month to see if they allow everyone to activate (including existing subs.) - that's the rumor.
