921 s/w: L211

Through this forum I have gotten to the bottom of two aggravating issues. (Dishnet 921 advanced support was not able to help with either.):
1) the 921 display settings change from 1080i, 16:9 to 480p, 16:9 overnight.
2) the page up/down remote buttons stop working overnight.

Both issues were caused because we turned off the 921 when in SD output mode, rather than HD mode. The over-night auto-reboot then changed 1080i setting to 480p and obviously created some other problems. Oddly, it left the aspect ratio at 16:9. I can accept that there is a factory default setting of 480p in HD mode but once I have changed that setting to 1080i, or changed any other factory default setting for that matter, it think that the s/w should not change it unless I ask to restore the factory settings.

I take the position that I should not have to remember to switch back to HD before turning off the 921 but rather than push that issue, I would like to generalize the question to the s/w changing my settings. After getting a call-back from 921 Technical Product Support, it was obvious that she didn't consider changing user specified settings a bug.

BTW, I found that using the front panel change mode button to change from HD-SD-HD would restore page up/down functionality. As a 30 year s/w developer, I find this mind numbing. We used to refer to this as spaghetti code.

I thought they said they fixed that one. It has been a known issue in the past, we have had threads discussing it. Sorry to hear that it seems to have reappeared.

BTW, this message board generally has a lot more experience than the advanced tech CSRs. I just call them when I want to give them a hard time.

Yes this has been an issue more or less forever; I too thought they said they fixed this particular problem, but apparently not. Obviously the software shouldn't be screwing up the HD setting just because you turned the unit off in SD mode; virtually no one would argue that it should.
