I am now on my 4th 721 in 2 years and it seems as though the problems never end!

Over the past month or so I have noticed that on some recordings the audio will drop out for about 1 second and then when it comes back on the picture will have some minor pixelization! This doesn't happen on every recording, but I can tell you that when you're trying to dub off a movie only to have this s*** happen 3/4 of the way into the recording... ARGH!!!!

I talked to a tech guy today on the phone and he says the fix is this:

1) delete the top recording from the PVR list
2) turn off the 721 via the remote
3) unplug the 721 for 5 seconds and then plug it back in (for a reboot)
4) repeat for each recording INDIVIDUALLY!

I have at least 20 recordings on the PVR right now!

Has anyone heard of this "fix" before?

Yes I have heard of this fix before. Its called the im an idiot for trying this and so is tech support for telling me this fix. I can't believe tech support told you to do this. What if you have 1,000 10 minute recordings? Will you be doing this till 2006? I get this problem too and I just live with it. Yuu have to face it, there are just some problems that cannot be fixed. Oh well.

No, I'm not and idiot because I haven't tried it! :)

It sounded hokey to me, so I thought I'd check it out here first.

I just called Dish again and the tech person this time told me to hold the power button on the unit for 1 minute and then let it "reboot the DVR functions". I'm not sure how this differs from the standard 5 second power button reboot, but she said it is different *shrug*.

Maybe this will make everything, well almost everything, ok again...

I had this problem with my 508 when I first got it, but ONLY if I was recording and watching at the same time. There first "fix" was that I had to DELETE all my recordings and then do a reboot. Didn't work, but I lost all my recordings.

Eventually I got sick of it and E* sent me a new receiver...no problems since.

Please let us know if this eliminated the problem......my 721 has the same problem, among others!

It made no difference -- I'm not about to delete each recording and do a reset between them (as my first post stated). I seriously doubt if that "fix" will do little more than frustrate the hell out of me and waste a whole lot of time.

Time for my 5th 721...
