Ok, I just got a replacement Hughes HTL-HD for one that I fried a few days ago installing an antenna in my attic. I checked the new one and it has power going out to the reciever, but still NO SIGNAL. I plug my D10 in and it immediately gives the downloading guide message and gives a picture. Anyone have a clue what might be going on with my HTL-HD? I am beginning to get VERY frustrated with this box.

A few more thing to add. I plug my D10 in and it comes up immediately. Then I plug the hughes back in and turn it to 100. Comes in fine, check the signal strength and it is normal (about 85 or so for me). Then I try to change to an HD channel and it says searching for signal. Check strength and everything is 0. Can't get a signal again until I plug the D10 back in and start over. Strange stuff???

Strange indeed. Did you try resetting?
Is your antenna cable sitting well into the receiver receptacle?
Sounds like a bad connection to me.
Last resort try calling D*. (Last resort) They probably will confuse you more.
Good Luck

Just got even a little stranger. I called D* and got everything working. Now I have my D10 plugged in to the wall and the TV, but not the Satellite cable. The Hughes is plugged into the sat cable. As long as I don't unplug the D10 from the wall or the TV the Hughes works fine. If I unplug the D10 from the wall or the TV the Hughes immediately goes to Searching for Satellite. What in the world could this be?

"What in the world could this be?" A consumer that needs to pay a professional to come out and debug his system. :)

Does the D10 not send power to the Satellite the same as the hughes HTLHD? Here is what I am seeing now. I went up to where my antenna is diplexed in and I am not getting any power reading at all there. However, the D10 is still working with no problems. If the D10 is plugged into the wall and the TV the, but not the satellite the Hughes seems to work perfect?

OK, I have a D* tech coming tomorrow, but just wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas. This has got to be the strangest thing I have ever seen. Hughes HTL-HD works fine in 2 other locations. D10 receivers work great in location where HTL-HD does not. HTL-HD workd perfect as long as I have a D10 plugged into the wall and into the TV (separate input) while I have the hughes running. Once I disconnect the D10 from the wall OR the TV the HTL-HD gives me a Searching for Satellite. I am thinking know one probably has a clue what is happening here (including the guy that is coming tomorrow)? Any suggestions/ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
This does sound strange. A tech coming on a Sunday!

I thought that was pretty strange also, but the guy said sunday the 3rd from 8-12.

At this point I don't even know. Probably is not tomorrow. I am so rustrated with this thing I probably wasn't listening to the guy. By the way, the people are Circuit City sure do a great job of convincing you that the extended warranty is worth it. I figured I was getting a new unit. Nope, refurbished with a manufacture date of over a year older than mine. Also does not have any of the software updates. If I call D* can they manually push the updates to me? I could have sworn the sales guy said I would get a brand new unit if anything happened to that one?

Do you have an amplifier on your OTA antenna. In my location it is a must. Could be when your receiver is plugged in the wall, it is allowing your electrical system to be used as part of your antenna, thus picture. When unplugged, not enough power in the antenna, especially when using a diplexer. Go to Radio Shack and buy an amplifier. Put one part by diplexer, and other part by HD-receiver, and you will find that the problem will be solved.

The strange thing at this point is I hav no antenna attached. I removed it to tryt o solve this problem. I think there is probably a splitter of some sort in the wall that I can't see, but besides that it is just coax all the way to the antenna. It is a farely long run, but I now have the same setup as I did before I tried to install my antenna and it is still not working. I am guessing I now have a bad splitter or cable in the wall. This is not good. When I clipped the wire to install my antenna I have a felling I screwed something else up besides just the receiver.
