I am looking into getting a Ku band system to get FTA. I have a 30'' dish which has the D* LNB feed support. Can the dish be mod to fit a Linear LNB? so All I would need is the LNB and Recvr.
Any help would be excellent
Thanks :)

Guess it depends on how handy you are.
You might want to look around for an old PrimeStar dish (like the one in my garage ;) ). They're a nice size, and already have a H/V LNB.

I have one of those! Primestar dish..But those old LNB's have H/V I would have to run 2 cable lines. Could I replace the LNB with something newer?

I bought a dual output (can run 2 receivers) kufss lnb from daveswebshop.com I was very satisfied. I temporarily attached it to the arm of my old primestar dish with a zipstrip. It worked perfectly! so much so that I have never attached it permanently....if it ain't broke-don't fix it :D

I forget what size Mount those things need - anyone know?
I could not find a new lnb the same throat size as the primestar dish required, thus I used a zip-tie. If the weather wasn't so nasty the day I hook mine up, I could have 'jimmy-rigged' some a little more permanent.

I have a c-band dish for fta w/ pansat receiver that I'm not using, is it possible to get a different lnb ( if available ) to get 121w with a dp301 receiver and if not can a dish 500 be used to get 121w w/ku lnb instead of superdish ? thanks

Interesting question superdish... a friend just bought a dish 500 and wants to get FTA stuff too but I doubt he could get anything with it.

You would probably have to 'jimmy-rig' the kufss lnb to attach it to the arm of the d500. However, due to the much small size d500 dish you may not get a good enough signal off of 121 to lock in.

For the zillionth time on these boards, the Dish500 pan size is too small to get an FSS (105/121/etc) bird. Period. End of story. Fuggedaboudit.
Ku band LNBFs come in (at least) 3 flavors: Separate H/V output. Good for running into an SW64. Single voltage-switched output. Fine for a single receiver that does NOT need ANY other birds, although an SW21 MIGHT work with a Legacy Twin. Dual Voltage-switched outputs. Can drive a SW64, or two receivers.
